The International Thespian Society is an honorary organization for high-school and middle-school theatre students located at more than 3,600 affiliated secondary schools across the United States, Canada, and abroad.
Festivals are held annually, both at the state and the national level.
The Nebraska Thespian State Festival takes place each January.
Student members are organized into school-based Thespian troupes that are headed by theatre educators. Lincoln High School is troupe number 3461.
LHS enters a production, often student-directed, in the State Convention.
Students also compete in individual and duet events.
LHS always takes a group of students to the state convention. Most students compete, and all students go to enjoy the camaraderie, meet other theatre students across the state, and attend workshop sessions to further their craft.
Student registration and payment for the State Convention is due early November.
If student competitors do well, they will be invited to perform at the International Festival in June at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
