Justin D. Holbein is Theatre Director for one of the premier high school theatre programs in the state of Nebraska, Lincoln High School.
Mr. Holbein has experience working in many areas of theatre, from professional to collegiate to high school. He discovered his passion for teaching and directing after working in the corporate world for a number of years. His greatest joys, derived from teaching theatre arts at LHS, are those moments when students discover their passion for theatrical performance. The building of a theatrical ensemble, whether it be on or offstage, culminating in powerful productions drive Mr. Holbein and LHS students to perform at their very best. The moments where students discover confidence within themselves and trust in others are truly what educational theatre strives for. These moments of inspiration and realization are priceless.
Mr. Holbein received his Bachelor of Science in Theatre and English and Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His acting, design and directing resume is quite extensive, but a few of his favorite productions to work on have been The Nerd, The Road to Tootyertuba, The Knight of the Burning Pestle, The Crucible, Great God Brown, and Friday’s Child. Mr. Holbein is also a sponsor/director for LHS’ Mummers and Thespians Club and International Thespian Troupe #3461.
Mr. Holbein is a member of the Nebraska Educational Theatre Association, the Nebraska Speech Communication and Theatre Association, and the Nebraska Education Association.
When not at LHS, (which is rare), or in a darkened theatre, Mr. Holbein enjoys BBQ, cooking, officiating basketball and spending time with his family, wife, Jami, children, Oliver and Josefine, and dog, Elli Mae. Mr. Holbein thanks Patsy Koch Johns, John Heineman, Jack Garrison, Tice Miller and Philip K. Dick for inspiration.
