The One Act

The One Act is part of a state-wide competitive event sponsored by the Nebraska School Activities Association, in which high schools across the state perform a 30-minute one-act play.

Lincoln High students are very proud of the tradition of excellence that LHS theatre has established.

This level of achievement comes with much hard work and focus on the part of the students and their directors. The students thrive on the opportunity to push themselves creatively. Getting a role can be competitive, but the director’s philosophy is to find the right place for any student who wants to participate. All students are encouraged to contribute their best work and put the needs of the ensemble foremost.

In the past, lead performers, supporting cast members, and small ensembles within the production have been recognized with individual acting awards at the District and State competitions.

Many LHS theatre students feel that the One Act competition is one of the best things about being at Lincoln High. Most students who participate will tell you that though it takes a lot of effort, they love the creative aspects, the ensemble work, and the pride that comes with doing their best and carrying forward the Lincoln High tradition of excellence.
